Linda Heikkila | Teacher

Linda Sheeran-Heikkila was born in Evanston, Wyoming. Her love of music began when she started piano at the age of 5 and continued lessons into college. She played lead roles in several plays and musicals throughout high school and college. After moving to St. George, she eventually began directing a large youth choir and has done so for 13 years.

Linda attended Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) and then transferred to Brigham Young University where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Theatre and Speech. While at BYU she was a member of the BYU Ballroom Dance Team and competed in Blackpool, England, where they won top honors. She received the "Top Teacher Award" from the BYU Ballroom Dance department.

While continuing to pursue her vocal and conducting interests, she received a Bachelors degree in Music and a Masters Degree in Education. She is an accomplished conductor, vocalist, pianist and plays several instruments. She currently teaches choir at Fossil Ridge Intermediate School where her ensembles consistently receive superior ratings. In 2014, she was named Washington County teacher of the month and her choir was invited to sing in the Utah Music Educators Annual conference.

Linda loves to do activities with her 6 children: 5 boys and 1 girl. She enjoys running, cycling, triathlons and especially loves waterskiing at Lake Powell. She enjoys traveling, singing and cycling with her husband, Art.
